Fish River Canyon

Left tarred roads behind and on our first gravel road now. That's dusty - drivers behind wouldn't see too much. Entering Ai-Ais camp on the south end of the canyon. This is Fish River - not much water after the dry season.

The camp was not too spectacular. So we left again soon. Birds at..... .....Ai-Ais camp. Hobas camp on the north end of the canyon.

On the way to the canyon's rim. On gravel roads you can see oncoming traffic for miles. Birds at main viewpoint. The main viewpoint at sunset. View from.....

Sunset over northern viewpoint. Braai again and..... .....this time we've got beer !!! Fire keeps you warm in cold nights.

You need a special permit and a medical certificate to hike down the canyon, which is completely prohibited during summertime anyway. Waiting for sunrise over the canyon. Aaaahhhhh..... View from main viewpoint.....

.....before we drive onwards. A Dutch couple got problems with their engine in the middle of nowhere. Where the f*** can we attach the towrope ???
